The Campaign for Lamar University
The Investing in the Future Campaign for Lamar University is a $125 million initiative that will take our remarkable university to new heights of excellence in terms of student scholarships, faculty support, student learning opportunities, facilities and programs.
Outstanding campaign leadership is provided Elvis Mason, honorary chair, Mike Aldredge, co-chair, Greg Thompson, co-chair, Camille Mouton, vice president for University Advancement, and James Simmons, president.
The campaign, the university’s first ever, began in 2006 in the “silent phase” with a goal of $50 million. However, when $46 million had already been raised at the end of the silent phase in 2008, the campaign leadership increased the campaign goal to $100 million and extended the duration of the campaign from 5 years to 7 years. Despite a challenging economy, $95 million had been raised by January 2012. The campaign goal was increased to $125 million at that time and the campaign continues through 2013.
